How the Platform Works

The InvestPNG platform is a structured system for identifying, classifying, and distributing investment opportunities across Papua New Guinea’s priority sectors. The platform’s architecture is designed to present verified, standardised information to institutional investors and development finance institutions through defined engagement pathways.

Opportunity Classification

Every opportunity on the platform is classified by sector, province, and investment stage. Opportunities are tagged with discovery metadata including geographic coordinates, capital requirements, and strategic relevance indicators. This classification system enables investors to filter the investment pipeline by sector, geography, and readiness level.

Opportunities are not self-submitted by project proponents. Each listing is sourced, assessed, and structured by InvestPNG’s sector desks according to the platform’s governance standards.

Stage System

Opportunities progress through four defined stages reflecting their position in the investment lifecycle:

• In Assessment — The opportunity has been identified and is undergoing initial evaluation. Data collection, stakeholder engagement, and preliminary analysis are in progress.
• Pipeline — The opportunity has passed initial assessment and is being structured into an investment-grade brief. Verification processes are active.
• Investment Ready — The opportunity has been fully structured, verified to platform standards, and is available for investor engagement through the deal room.
• Capital Secured — Investment commitment has been obtained. The opportunity transitions to monitoring status.

Stage transitions are controlled by InvestPNG and reflect objective assessments against defined criteria. Opportunities do not advance through stages based on proponent requests.

Readiness Scoring

The platform employs a five-pillar readiness scoring framework that provides a structured assessment of each opportunity’s preparedness for investment. Each pillar is scored from 0 to 20, producing a composite score from 0 to 100:

• Legal Readiness — Land tenure, licensing, permits, and regulatory compliance status
• Technical Readiness — Feasibility studies, engineering assessments, and technical documentation
• Commercial Readiness — Market analysis, revenue models, offtake agreements, and commercial viability
• Financial Readiness — Capital structure, financial projections, and funding pathway clarity
• ESG Readiness — Environmental impact assessment, social licence, governance structures, and sustainability frameworks

Readiness scores are subject to the platform’s verification model and are updated as new information becomes available.

Investor Engagement

Investors engage with the platform through a structured workflow. The opportunity archive provides filtered access to active listings. Detailed investment briefs are accessible for each opportunity. Investors seeking deeper engagement or confidential project documentation submit a request through the deal room, which is processed by the relevant sector desk.

All investor communication is managed through InvestPNG. Direct contact between investors and project proponents is facilitated only through the platform’s managed processes.

Data Integrity Protocols

The platform maintains strict data integrity standards. Financial figures are never fabricated. Technical parameters are sourced from verified documentation. Where data gaps exist, the platform discloses this explicitly rather than filling gaps with estimates. The data sourcing methodology documents the platform’s approach to information validation and currency.
