The platform draws on multiple categories of data to construct opportunity profiles, sector intelligence, and investment briefs published through the investment pipeline and Knowledge Library.

Source Categories

The platform’s data sourcing framework recognises four primary source categories:

• Government and Institutional Data — Official statistics, regulatory filings, licensing records, policy documents, and development plans published by Papua New Guinea government agencies, statutory bodies, and international institutions operating in the country.
• Industry and Market Data — Sector reports, commodity market analysis, trade data, and industry benchmarks sourced from recognised industry bodies, research institutions, and multilateral organisations.
• Project-Level Data — Technical reports, feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, financial models, and corporate records provided by project proponents or obtained from public filings.
• Field Verification — On-the-ground assessment conducted by InvestPNG or authorised partners to validate project status, infrastructure conditions, community engagement, and operational parameters.

Validation Methodology

Data from any single source is treated as provisional until cross-referenced. The platform’s validation methodology requires that material claims — particularly those relating to financial parameters, resource estimates, and regulatory status — be supported by at least two independent sources before publication.

Where cross-referencing is not possible due to data scarcity, the platform publishes the available information with an explicit disclosure of its source and the level of independent verification achieved. This approach ensures transparency without creating false confidence in unverified data.

Currency and Update Frequency

Data currency is managed according to the nature of the information:

• Regulatory and licensing data — Reviewed against official records at regular intervals and upon notification of material changes
• Financial and market data — Updated in line with reporting cycles and market publications relevant to each sector
• Project status data — Updated as milestones are achieved, verified through direct engagement with project stakeholders and the platform’s verification model
• Sector intelligence — Reviewed and refreshed as new research, policy developments, or market reports become available

Data Limitation Disclosures

InvestPNG operates in a frontier market environment where comprehensive, standardised data is not always available. The platform addresses this reality through explicit limitation disclosures. Where data gaps exist, the platform states this rather than filling gaps with estimates or assumptions. Where figures are forward-looking projections rather than confirmed values, this is clearly indicated.

Financial figures, production volumes, and cost structures are never invented. Where verified figures are unavailable, the platform uses the designation “Available upon request” and directs investors to engage through the relevant sector desk for further information.

Confidence-Level Indicators

The platform is developing a confidence-level framework to provide investors with a structured indication of the reliability and completeness of data associated with each opportunity. This framework will classify data quality across defined tiers, enabling investors to calibrate their own due diligence processes accordingly.
